How the six shapes are decided

Real faces sit between categories, and the detector says so when a measurement is on the border. The numbers under the result (length to width, jaw to cheekbone, forehead to cheekbone, jaw angle) tell you which way you lean.
How the detector measures shape
A face landmark model finds the top of the forehead, the chin, the forehead sides, the cheek edges and the jaw corners. The test levels and frontalizes the face, estimates the hairline above the mesh's top point, and computes three ratios plus the jaw angle. Those four numbers place the face in one of the six shapes using the same rules a stylist uses by eye, only measured.

What to do with your face shape
- Oval: most cuts work. Avoid heavy fringe that shortens the face.
- Round: height on top and short sides add length; avoid width at the cheeks. A light beard along the jaw adds angle.
- Square: texture and some length on top soften the angles; a tight beard keeps the jaw the feature.
- Oblong: keep the top low, add width at the sides, and a full beard shortens the face.
- Heart: width at the jaw level (a beard, a fuller cut at the sides) balances the forehead; avoid volume on top.
- Diamond: fringe or a fuller top widens the forehead; a beard widens the jaw.

How to get an accurate detection
- Camera at eye level, at arm's length or further. A low camera lengthens the chin and widens the jaw; a high camera shrinks them.
- Even light from the front. A window behind you or a lamp above you puts shadows exactly where the landmarks are.
- Face the camera straight on with a neutral expression, mouth closed, hair off the forehead.
- No filters, no beauty mode, no crop that cuts the chin or the ears.
- Use the same setup when you compare two photos. Different setups produce different numbers on the same face.
Hair off the forehead is the one that matters here: the detector needs to see the forehead sides and the hairline.

What is the most attractive face shape?
None on its own. Ratings depend on proportion and features within the shape, not the shape label. Oval is called ideal because it is the easiest to style, not because it rates higher.
Why does the detector say I am between two shapes?
Because you are. The categories are bands on continuous measurements, and a jaw ratio of 0.85 is on the border of square and oval. The numbers under the result show which way you lean.
Can my face shape change?
Weight changes the round to oval reading, a beard changes the jaw reading, and a hairline that moves changes the forehead reading. The bone shape does not change.
