Most faces score between 25 and 55. A full hunter score is rare because it needs all three at once: a strong tilt with a high brow, or a low brow with round eyes, each lands in the middle.
How the test measures it
A face landmark model finds the eye corners, the upper and lower lids and the brows. The test levels the head, corrects for a small turn and for camera height (a camera above eye level makes tilt read more positive and eyes read narrower, which is the classic way to fake hunter eyes in a selfie), then measures the three traits and combines them.

What hunter eyes actually are
The look is mostly bone: a forward-grown maxilla and a strong brow ridge bring the brow down and forward over the eye, which narrows the opening and lifts the outer corner. Deep set eyes and low body fat add to it; a high brow, a round orbit or puffiness around the eye take from it. It reads as intense and alert, which is why the community rates it, and it is the same look that ages badly when the lids hood further.
What you can change
- Camera height. Shooting slightly above eye level narrows the eyes and lifts the corners in the photo. Every hunter eyes selfie you have seen uses it.
- Brow grooming. A brow trimmed flat and low reads closer to the eye; a high arch reads further.
- Body fat. Puffiness around the eye rounds the opening; leanness hoods it.
- Sleep and salt. Both change the lids day to day.
- Nothing else without surgery. Tilt and orbit shape are bone.

How to get an accurate result
- Camera at eye level, at arm's length or further. A low camera lengthens the chin and widens the jaw; a high camera shrinks them.
- Even light from the front. A window behind you or a lamp above you puts shadows exactly where the landmarks are.
- Face the camera straight on with a neutral expression, mouth closed, hair off the forehead.
- No filters, no beauty mode, no crop that cuts the chin or the ears.
- Use the same setup when you compare two photos. Different setups produce different numbers on the same face.
Eyes open and relaxed, no squint: squinting fakes a narrow opening and the test will score it.
